The Regional Government of Madeira has approved, through Regional Government Council Resolution no. 650/2026, the continuation of the Insular Student Program and a new Regulation for Specific Support for Student Passengers. This measure, effective since June 5, 2026, aims to mitigate the costs of air and sea travel between the Region, the mainland, and the Azores.
The new regime requires students to sign a subrogation declaration, allowing AIM, IP-RAM to receive the reimbursement of the Territorial Continuity Mechanism directly from the payment service provider, thus ensuring the necessary financial advance for the purchase of tickets.
