The Regional Government Council authorized a program-contract to support the actions of the Funchal Society for the Protection of Domestic Animals during the year 2026.
The Regional Government of Madeira has approved financial support of 32,760 euros for the SPAD - Funchal Society for the Protection of Domestic Animals. The measure was formalized through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 674/2026 and aims to support the association's expenses with actions and acquisitions foreseen in specific regulations during the current year.
The program-contract, which takes effect from the date of its signature until December 31, 2026, falls under the regime of annual financial support for animal protection associations in the Region, established by Ordinance No. 463/2019. The decision is based on the crucial role these entities play in collecting and sheltering stray animals, promoting responsible adoptions, and carrying out sterilization campaigns, policies considered essential after the prohibition of the euthanasia of companion animals in the Region.
The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries was mandated to sign the contract on behalf of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
Two civil society entities will each receive financial support of 10,000 euros through programme contracts signed with the Regional Government.
The Regional Government approved financial support of 843,636 euros for eleven partner entities to ensure the continuity of the Food Emergency Programme (PEARAM) during 2026.
The Regional Government of Madeira has authorized the Madeira Social Security Institute to assume multi-year expenses of 12.7 million euros to ensure the continuity of social services at the Bela Vista Establishment.
