Regional Government boosts investment in Sagrado Coração Senior Unit in Ribeira Brava
The Sagrado Coração Senior Unit project in Ribeira Brava will receive additional funding and an increase to 52 residential care places.
The Regional Government of Madeira, through the Regional Secretariat for Inclusion, Labour and Youth, has updated the funding for project 10637 - Sagrado Coração Senior Unit, located in Ribeira Brava. The measure, formalized by Ordinance no. 278/2026, reflects the need to adjust the investment due to the project's resizing, which will increase the capacity of the Residential Structure for Elderly People (ERPI) from 40 to 52 places.
This investment, financed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), is the result of a partnership between the Regional Secretariat for Inclusion, Labour and Youth and the Social and Parish Centre of São Bento da Ribeira Brava. The total amount of the project has now been set at €5,724,764.26.
The breakdown of budgetary charges defined by the Madeiran executive is as follows:
- Financial year 2024: €0.00
- Financial year 2025: €611,493.72
- Financial year 2026: €5,113,270.54
This redevelopment, which utilizes part of the Sagrado Coração Missionary College, aims to strengthen the network of social support services in the region, ensuring better accommodation and care conditions for the elderly population.
