Regional Government praises Madeiran athletes for ICF Ocean Racing World Cup 2026 achievements
The Regional Government of Madeira has awarded public commendations to several athletes, coaches, and associations for their excellent results at the 1st Stage of the ICF Ocean Racing World Cup 2026.
The Regional Government Council of Madeira, meeting in plenary on May 28, 2026, decided to grant public commendations to athletes, coaches, and sports institutions for their remarkable performance at the 1st Stage of the ICF Ocean Racing World Cup 2026, in the ocean racing canoeing specialty. The athletes were distinguished for the following results:
- José Pedro Gonçalves Oliveira and Luísa Maria Gomes Pereira (Associação Náutica de Câmara de Lobos): 1st place in the SS2 class, mixed category (Resolution no. 544/2026).
- Rui Pedro da Rocha Mendes Borges Macedo and Beatriz Fernandes Santos (Clube Naval do Funchal): 2nd place in the SS2 class, mixed category (Resolution no. 545/2026).
- João Mateus Jesus Ornelas (Associação Náutica de Câmara de Lobos): 3rd place in the SS1 class, open men's senior category (Resolution no. 541/2026).
- Miguel Pinto Martins and Rodrigo Andrade dos Santos (Clube Naval do Funchal): 1st place in the SS2 class, men's senior category (Resolution no. 542/2026).
- Bernardo Andrade de Leça Pereira (Clube Naval da Calheta): 1st place in the SS1 class, open men's senior category (Resolution no. 543/2026).
The commendations extend to the respective coaches, the mentioned clubs, and the Regional Canoeing Association of Madeira, recognizing the prestige they brought to the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
