Medical prescriptions issued from July 1, exclusively for flu vaccines, are valid until December 31, 2026.
The Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection has exceptionally determined the extension of the validity period for flu vaccine prescriptions for the 2026-2027 seasonal period. The measure aims to facilitate access to vaccination and avoid disruptions in health services.
According to Dispatch No. 282/2026, signed by the Regional Secretary Micaela Cristina Fonseca de Freitas, medical prescriptions that exclusively prescribe flu vaccines, issued from July 1, 2026, are valid until December 31 of the current year.
This decision aligns the validity period of flu vaccination prescriptions with the general validity period of medical prescriptions. The dispatch came into force the day after its publication but has retroactive effect from July 1, 2026.
The measure, adopted in previous years, aims to benefit users and healthcare professionals, minimizing logistical problems caused by a high volume of prescriptions in a short period of time.
