Engineer Marco Antonio Negreira Magalhaes takes over as head of the Licensing and Environmental Health Division at the Regional Health Directorate.
The Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection has formalized, through Order no. 176/2026, the appointment of Environmental Engineering graduate, Eng. Marco Antonio Negreira Magalhaes, to the position of Head of the Licensing and Environmental Health Division at the Regional Health Directorate.
The appointment, which takes place under a three-year renewable service commission, follows a prior competitive procedure (Notice no. 415/2025). The new manager, who was already part of the Regional Health Directorate's staff, has an extensive background in environmental health, including specialized training in leadership management and experience in strategic working groups, such as the certification of Madeira as a Sustainable Tourist Destination and the MaRaM strategy.
The capacity of the elderly support establishment was formally increased after modernization works financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The Regional Health Secretariat authorized an increase of nearly 93,000 euros in the budget for the requalification of integrated long-term care units, raising the total amount to over 4.4 million euros.
The Council of the Government approved the 2026 action plan for the Integrated Continuing Care Network (REDE), establishing coverage targets and the renewal and creation of 526 new inpatient and home support places.
