The Government has awarded all three lots for the preliminary study and environmental impact assessment of new road links, with a combined contract value of €3,317,000. Each lot has a completion period of 435 days.
The Regional Government Council authorised the award of all three lots in the public tender for the provision of services entitled “New Road Links - Preliminary Study and Environmental Impact Assessment”. The bids were submitted by a consortium comprising TPF - Consultores de Engenharia e Arquitetura, S.A., NRV - Consultores de Engenharia, S.A. and GRID Consulting Engineers, S.A.
The combined value of the three lots is €3,317,000. The resolution also approves the draft contract and delegates authority to the Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure to sign it and handle the steps required for prior review by the Court of Auditors. The Regional Director of Roads is delegated authority to carry out acts related to the performance of the contract.
The expenditure planned for 2026 is covered by the budget heading specified in the resolution, in accordance with Ordinance No. 578/2026, published in JORAM, Series I, No. 180, 2nd Supplement, on 7 October 2026.

Plot No. 65, required for the construction of the Machico Norte junction and the section between the Portais Tunnel and the Caniçal Roundabout, will be expropriated for €137,088.17. The identified owners are Manuel Viveiros da Costa Miranda and Maria Nunes Calaça Miranda.
The Region will contribute to investment costs incurred by SMD - Sociedade Metropolitana de Desenvolvimento, S.A., for the project to revitalise the Machico Forum’s infrastructure and facilities. The maximum grant of €1,422,693 will be allocated between 2026 and 2028.
The Regional Government has split the costs of the first phase of improvements to the Emergency Department at Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital between 2026 and 2027. The total investment is €1,279,000, plus VAT.
