Regional Government redistributes road transport contract costs in Funchal
The Regional Government of Madeira has modified and redistributed the budgetary burdens related to the public road transport service concession in Funchal.
Through Ordinance no. 304/2026, published in the Official Journal supplement on July 12, 2026, the Regional Government of Madeira formalized the redistribution and amendment of the budgetary burdens provided for the public road passenger transport concession contract in the Municipality of Funchal.
The contract, signed with the company Horários do Funchal, Transportes Públicos, S.A., has a maximum estimated total value of 124,050,775.71 euros. The measure aims to adjust the financial scaling of the costs over the fiscal years, according to the following plan:
- 2018: €2,729,037.93
- 2019: €6,911,648.55
- 2020: €6,994,423.20
- 2021: €8,385,059.96
- 2022: €11,681,828.32
- 2023: €8,717,771.44
- 2024: €14,544,889.46
- 2025: €14,850,606.93
- 2026: €12,308,877.48
- 2027: €12,308,877.48
- 2028: €12,308,877.48
- 2029: €12,308,877.48
The decree establishes that the amount set for each year may be increased by the balance found in the previous year. The funds for 2026 are secured by the budget of the Institute for Mobility and Transport, IP-RAM, while the costs for the period from 2027 to 2029 will be included in the respective annual budgets.
