Regional Government proceeds with expropriations for the redesign of the Santo Antonio junction
The Regional Government of Madeira has authorized the expropriation of four plots of land necessary for the second phase of works on the VR1.
The Regional Government Council approved, through Resolution no. 563/2026, the expropriation of four plots of land (nos. 11, 12, 13, and 14) essential for the execution of the project VR1 - Via Rapida Ribeira Brava/Machico. Redesign of the Santo Antonio Junction and Accesses - 2nd Phase.
The operation, which aims to continue the project declared of public utility in 2024, involves a global investment of 409,231.02 euros. The owner of the expropriated plots is Basilio Abreu de Sousa.
The Regional Secretary of Finance has been mandated to represent the Autonomous Region of Madeira in the amicable expropriation deed, with the expenditure being covered by the regional budget, under Project 50153.
