Regional Government updates ISP tax on diesel in Madeira

Order No. 418/2026 establishes a new unit rate for the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP) applicable to road diesel in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The Regional Government of Madeira, through the Regional Secretariat for the Economy and the Regional Secretariat for Finance, has published Order No. 418/2026, of August 28, which makes a specific change to the rate table for the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP).

The decree specifically amends Order No. 10/2015, of January 12, which defines the unit rates of the ISP to be applied in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The change concerns the rate applicable to road diesel, updating the value that had been in force since Order No. 400/2026, of August 13.

According to the legal text, the new rate for diesel (classified under NC codes 27101941 to NC 27101949) is set at 348.47 euros per 1000 liters. The rates for other petroleum and energy products remain unchanged.

The Regional Government justifies the measure as necessary to partially accommodate the exponential increase in the price of raw materials, mitigating its effects on families and the economy. The decision is part of a policy of progressive tax relief and represents, according to the executive, an additional effort by the regional public finances.

The order came into force the day after its publication (August 29, 2026), but takes effect from August 31, 2026.
