Regional Government updates funding for Madeiran student air travel support
Ordinance no. 247/2026 updates the budgetary charges for the mobility subsidy for students traveling between Madeira, the mainland, and the Azores.
The Regional Government of Madeira, through the Regional Secretariat of Finance, has published Ordinance no. 247/2026, which formalizes the update of budgetary charges related to the specific support scheme for student passengers. This measure aims to ensure the financial sustainability of the program that subsidizes air travel between the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the mainland territory, and the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
The update reflects the executed and projected values, highlighting the budgetary reinforcement for the year 2026, which amounts to €6,663,855.46. The history of charges updated by the diploma is as follows:
- 2018: €343,341.19
- 2019: €4,249,525.78
- 2020: €3,372,047.20
- 2021: €4,529,776.22
- 2022: €4,869,486.55
- 2023: €5,370,395.11
- 2024: €6,250,517.14
- 2025: €6,214,291.44
- 2026: €6,663,855.46
This ordinance enters into force on the day following its publication, ensuring the continuity of support for Madeiran students in accessing air connections.
