Infante D. Henrique School receives 152 thousand euros for digital textbooks
The Regional Government has authorized a program-contract to financially support the acquisition of digital textbooks for students at Infante D. Henrique School for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Regional Government of Madeira will financially support the use of digital textbooks at Infante D. Henrique School. Through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 695/2026, the signing of a program-contract with the 'Portuguese Province of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,' the owner of the educational establishment, has been authorized.
The support, which will not exceed 152,224.67 euros, is intended to subsidize the costs of digital textbooks for the 2026/2027 academic year. The measure aims to ensure that students at this private school, which is part of the school network through association contracts, have access to the same conditions of free digital textbooks as students in public education.
The school, located in an area where the public network cannot ensure the necessary school coverage, has already benefited from this support in the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years. The decision is based on promoting equal opportunities, reducing the weight of school backpacks, and the strategy for the progressive digitalization of education.
The Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Technology has been mandated to execute the program-contract, which will take effect from the date of its signing.
