School calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year approved in Madeira
The Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology has defined the dates for the next academic year, establishing school terms and breaks for the public network.
Dispatch no. 198/2026 has been published, approving the school calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year in public education establishments in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The document defines the start and end dates of school activities, as well as the break periods for Christmas, Carnival, and Easter.
Key calendar dates:
- 1st Term: Starts September 10, 2026 (1st cycle) and between September 11 and 14, 2026 (2nd and 3rd cycles and secondary), ending December 16, 2026.
- 2nd Term: From January 4, 2027, to March 19, 2027.
- 3rd Term: From April 5, 2027, to June 2027 (depending on the grade level).
The dispatch reinforces the mandatory operation of daycare centers and special education institutions for 11 months, ensuring continued support for families.
