The Madeira Regional Government approved a substantial financial reinforcement for CARAM - the Slaughterhouse Center of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, EPERAM. The measure aims to ensure the economic sustainability of the public entity, which provides a public service with social pricing.
The Regional Government Council Resolution No. 781/2026 authorizes the increase of the public company's statutory capital through a cash injection of 334,000.00 €. This funding, originating from the Region's 2026 Budget, is specifically intended to cover the entity's own operating expenses for the current year.
CARAM, whose capital is entirely held by the Autonomous Region of Madeira, depends on budgetary transfers to maintain its financial structure, as it practices social prices stemming from its public service mission.
