Proposal Approved for Creation of 'Atlântida' Maritime-Port Technological Hub
The Regional Government approved the final report defining the governance model and action axes for the future Maritime-Port Technological Hub of Madeira.
The Council of the Regional Government has officially approved the proposal for the creation and implementation of Atlântida - Maritime-Port Technological Hub of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The Regional Government Council Resolution No. 677/2026 gives the green light to the Final Report prepared by a multisectoral Working Group, established in February 2026.
The document, resulting from a participatory process that included public, academic, scientific, military, security, and port sector entities, as well as a public consultation, contains the proposal for the institutional configuration, governance model, measures, and action axes for the future hub.
With this approval, the Regional Secretariat for the Economy, through the Regional Directorate for Competitiveness, Innovation and Sustainability, is tasked with adopting the measures contained in the report and promoting the necessary procedures for the implementation phase and the future formal institutionalization of the technological hub.
