Regional Government requests support for strategic logistics infrastructure in Funchal
The Madeiran Executive has declared the construction of two logistics warehouses of regional interest, with an investment between 25 and 30 million euros.
The Regional Government Council has approved Resolution no. 229/2026, which aims to secure institutional collaboration from the Republic's Government to enable vital logistics infrastructure for Madeira.
The project, promoted by Grupo Sousa, involves the construction of two logistics warehouses with a covered area of 18,000 m2, located on a 39,000 m2 plot in the city of Funchal. The investment, valued between 25 and 30 million euros, has the strategic objective of ensuring the resilience of the regional supply of food goods for a minimum period of 60 days, mitigating the risk of stock shortages.
The planned location, in the vicinity of the Funchal Prison, will require the implementation of risk mitigation measures by the developer, ensuring the security of that prison facility.
