Regional Government approves exceptional fuel subsidies

Through Resolution no. 200/2026, the Regional Government has established a framework of temporary support to compensate for the escalation in fuel prices, driven by the conflict in the Middle East, using the values from the week of March 4 to 13, 2026, as a reference.

The support, effective between April 4 and June 30, 2026, covers the following sectors:

• Public Transport and Taxis: Support of 15 cents per liter for public transport companies (up to 2,000 liters per vehicle) and for taxis (up to 300 liters per month, with a limit of 135 euros per vehicle).
• Fisheries: Support of 10 cents per liter for fishing vessel owners, conditional on increases exceeding 10 cents compared to the reference price.
• Emergency and Civil Protection: Fixed support for Humanitarian Firefighter Associations, the Portuguese Red Cross, and the Madeiran Sea Rescue Association (Sanas), with values of 360 euros per heavy vehicle and 120 euros per light vehicle.
• Non-profit Organizations (IPSS): A one-time support of up to 600 euros for vehicles used in service provision.

The allocation of this support will be regulated by joint ordinances from the members of the Regional Government responsible for the sectoral areas and finance.
