The Autonomous Region of Madeira has formalized the financial contribution for the international sporting event held in Funchal in early 2026.
The Regional Government has authorized, via Regional Government Council Resolution no. 249/2026, the signing of a program contract with the Portuguese Swimming Federation. The financial support, amounting to a maximum of €130,000.00, is intended to co-finance the European Aquatics Women Water Polo Championships Funchal 2026 event.
The championship, which took place between January 26 and February 5, 2026, featured the participation of the 16 best European national teams and over 500 sports agents. The measure aims to recognize the event's impact on promoting the Madeira destination and boosting the regional economy, particularly in the tourism, accommodation, and services sectors.
The Regulation for the Allocation of Financial Support to the Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector has been approved, establishing incentive schemes for collective interest actions of fishing communities.
The Regional Government has approved a program contract providing a contribution of up to 50,000 euros to support the Madeira Aeroclub's ordinary operating expenses in 2026.
The Government authorized APRAM to sign a debt settlement agreement with CLCM, ending long-standing disputes over fees at the Caniçal maritime fuel terminal.
