The Regional Government of Madeira has authorized financial support of up to 20,000 euros to the Casa do Povo da Ponta do Sol for the organization of the 2026 edition of the Regional Sugarcane and Derivatives Fair.
The Regional Government Council has approved, through Resolution no. 132/2026, the signing of a program contract with the Casa do Povo da Ponta do Sol. This financial support is intended to subsidize the costs inherent to the organization of the Regional Sugarcane and Derivatives Fair, which takes place during 2026.
The measure aims to value the economic and cultural importance that sugarcane cultivation holds for the municipality of Ponta do Sol and the Autonomous Region of Madeira, recognizing the fundamental role of private non-profit institutions in promoting traditions and rural development.
The Regional Secretary of Agriculture and Fisheries has been mandated to sign the aforementioned program contract, with the necessary funds for the execution of this initiative duly registered in the budget of the respective Regional Secretariat.
The Regional Government has authorised financial compensation of up to €15,740.55 for 15 owners of professional fishing boats powered by petrol. The grants relate to fishing activity and will be formalised through programme contracts.
Maximum retail fuel prices in the Autonomous Region of Madeira take effect at midnight on 3 October 2026. Unleaded 95 petrol will cost €2.021 per litre and road diesel €2.120.
Young farmers can now meet certain eligibility criteria based on the 48 months before applying, instead of the previously stipulated 24 months. The change aims to include applicants who began the establishment process earlier.
