Government approves three funding protocols for cultural projects
The Autonomous Region of Madeira will financially support the production of a Traditional Nativity Scene, an animated short film, and a series of three Baroque music concerts.
The Government Council approved the signing of three cultural development and cooperation protocols, allocating financial contributions to artistic projects to be carried out in 2026. The goal is to promote a qualified and diverse cultural offering in the region.
The supported projects are as follows:
- Cultural and Recreational Association of Galeão via Regional Government Council Resolution No. 748/2026: Support of up to €2,500.00 for the production of the Traditional Madeiran Nativity Scene (Lapinha), an event aimed at preserving the cultural identity and Christmas customs of Madeira.
- Visual artist Hanako Chaki via Regional Government Council Resolution No. 749/2026: Support of up to €4,000.00 for the production and creation of the 2D animated short film "The Clouds of Nonsesnse head", which merges visual arts, sound, and cinema.
- Music teacher and artist Maria Clara Ornelas Camacho de Andrade Costa via Regional Government Council Resolution No. 750/2026: Support of up to €2,500.00 for the project "Between Devotion and Desire", which consists of three Baroque music concerts in churches in the municipalities of Funchal and Machico.
The protocols are effective from the date of their signing until December 31, 2026.
