The Government Council rectified a previous resolution to correct information on seating capacity and athlete distribution for the 2026 Autonomy Padel Tournament.
The Regional Government rectified Resolution No. 546/2026, which authorized the signing of a program contract with Clube Quinta do Padel for the 2026 Autonomy Padel Tournament. The amendment, approved by Resolution of the Regional Government Council No. 753/2026, corrects two points in the original text.
Firstly, where it stated that the 128 athletes would be "equally distributed between the male and female categories," it now reads only "distributed between the male and female categories."
Secondly, and more significantly, the total capacity of the stands to be installed has been revised downward. The initial resolution provided for stands with a capacity of 326 seats, a figure that has been rectified to 120 seats.
The tournament, which involves athletes from the Autonomous Regions of Madeira, the Azores, and the Canary Islands, remains an event with an inter-regional dimension and international projection, according to the official document.
The Government Council approved financial support for a Christmas musical, a cycle of contemporary music concerts, and a multidisciplinary arts festival.
The Regional Government has accepted the donation of a valuable 16th-century Luso-Flemish sculpture, offered by two companies under cultural patronage, which will be integrated into the collection of the Quinta das Cruzes Museum.
The Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture and the Regional Secretariat for Finance have authorized 15,000 euros in support for the Madeira Bridge Association to host the international event in 2026.
