The Region has agreed to terminate the lease of a property on Rua 5 de Outubro in Funchal, effective 31 October 2026. The building is no longer needed for public services and has suffered deterioration.
The Regional Government has authorised the termination by mutual agreement of the lease covering floors in an urban building at 19 Rua 5 de Outubro, in the parish of Sé, Funchal. The termination will take effect on 31 October 2026.
The lease was signed on 13 July 1977 to house Regional Government services. According to the resolution, the premises are no longer needed for purposes of public interest, and the building's deteriorated condition, along with the defects identified, compromises its usability and functionality. The Government therefore considers it unfeasible to maintain the lease or allocate the premises to other public services.
Regional Government Council Resolution No. 935/2026 also approves the draft termination agreement and authorises the Regional Secretary for Finance to sign it on behalf of the Region.
The resolution contains a discrepancy in the identification of the floors: the summary and decision refer to the first and second floors, while the recitals indicate the second and third floors.
