João Nélio Remêsso Castro appointed head of the River Hydraulics Division
João Nélio Remêsso Castro has been appointed on an interim basis to head the River Hydraulics Division of the Regional Directorate for Social Facilities and Conservation. The appointment takes effect on 23 September 2026.
Civil engineer João Nélio Remêsso Castro has been appointed on an interim basis as head of the River Hydraulics Division within the Directorate of Inspection and Hydraulics Services, part of the Regional Directorate for Social Facilities and Conservation.
The post had been vacant since 10 September 2026, following the non-renewal of the previous postholder's service commission. Order No. 395/2026, identified in the text as Order No. 52/2026, stipulates that the appointment takes effect on 23 September.
According to the published curriculum vitae, Castro holds a master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Madeira and has worked as a senior officer at the Regional Directorate for Social Facilities and Conservation since 2021. His listed duties include inspections and technical opinions in the field of river hydraulics, as well as studies and the coordination of rehabilitation and maintenance work on the regional river network.
The order states that the expenditure has been allocated under the 2026 budget headings of the Regional Secretariat for Equipment and Infrastructure, and that the appointment is not subject to prior review by the Madeira Regional Section of the Court of Auditors.
