Regional Government restructures Office of the Regional Secretary for Economy
The Regional Government of Madeira has made changes to the core structure of the Office of the Regional Secretary for the Economy (GSREC), creating new organic units and strengthening competencies.
Through Ordinance no. 224/2026, published in the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (JORAM), the Regional Government has introduced significant changes to the internal organization of the Office of the Regional Secretary for the Economy (GSREC). This measure aims to adjust the structure to the actual operational needs of the services, following three months of the previous model being in effect.
The main changes include:
- Creation of the Personnel Management, Recruitment and Training Office (GGPRF): Replaces the former Human Resources Office, assuming expanded competencies in staff management, recruitment processes, performance evaluation, and professional training.
- Creation of the Legal Support and Public Procurement Office (GAJCP): Replaces the Legal Affairs Office, strengthening technical-legal support, particularly in public procurement and the monitoring of public-private partnerships under the supervision of the Regional Secretariat for the Economy.
- Strengthening of the Economy and Maritime Affairs Office (GEAM): This unit retains its designation but now assumes responsibility for the creation and management of a new Maritime Transport Observatory.
The restructuring, which enters into force the day after the publication of the diploma, maintains the total number of core and flexible organic units, focusing on operational optimization and the clarity of the competencies assigned to each office.
