Strategy Office for People with Disabilities Created
The new Strategy Office for People with Disabilities (GEPD) aims to coordinate cross-cutting public inclusion policies in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The Regional Government has created, through Resolution no. 224/2026, the "Strategy Office for People with Disabilities" (GEPD). This mission structure, under the supervision of the Regional Secretariat for Inclusion, Labour and Youth, aims to promote the strategic coordination of public policies aimed at full inclusion.
The GEPD will have a two-year mandate and its main functions include:
- Diagnosis of the needs of people with disabilities in the RAM.
- Proposal of measures to promote autonomy and independent living.
- Articulation between the education, health, employment and social protection sectors.
- Production of reports and recommendations for the improvement of regional policies.
The structure will be composed of a President (with the status of 1st-degree senior management) and a Secretary, working in close coordination with various regional bodies.
