Regional Government creates working group to implement Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration
The GT-GRC.IA has been established, a working group focused on governance, risk, and compliance for the use of Artificial Intelligence systems in regional public services.
The Regional Secretariat of Finance has formalized, through Order no. 153/2026, the creation of the Working Group for the definition, execution, and monitoring of the Action Plan (GT-GRC.IA). This group is part of the Multidisciplinary Team for Governance, Risk, and Compliance in Artificial Intelligence, previously created by Order no. 111/2026.
The group's central mission is the operationalization of the Strategic Plan for Artificial Intelligence in the Regional Public Administration, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation. The focal points designated for the group are:
- Regional Office for Digital Compliance, Data Protection, and Cybersecurity (GCPD): Dr. João Juvenal Camacho Pereira (Coordinator).
- Innovation and Modernization Agency of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, IP-RAM (AIM, IP-RAM): Eng. Hélder Robinson Nóbrega and Eng. Jóni Martins Silva.
- Regional Directorate of Informatics (DRI): Eng. Duarte Nuno Fernandes Homem da Costa, Eng. Humberto Marcelo Pestana Caldeira, and Eng. José Ricardo Correia Teixeira.
The GT-GRC.IA will have as its main objectives the definition of action measures, technical coordination between entities, and the identification of AI use cases, operating until the conclusion of the implementation of the measures provided for in the Action Plan.
