Madeira awards Tourism Merit Medals to 21 people and organisations
The Regional Government awarded Tourism Merit Medals to 21 people and organisations in recognition of their contribution to tourism in Madeira. The awards are divided into gold, silver and bronze categories.
The Regional Government awarded Tourism Merit Medals to 21 people and organisations who have made outstanding contributions to the development and promotion of tourism in Madeira. The decision was approved by the Government Council on 24 September and published in Regional Government Council Resolution No. 911/2026.
The awards recognise services to the regional tourism sector and are divided into three categories:
- Gold Medal, for exceptional services - six recipients: Celso Danilo Ribeiro Rodrigues; Francisco Pereira da Silva; Gonçalo Favila Vieira de Ornelas Monteiro; Graça Teresa Aguiar de Barros Guimarães; Manuel Diogo Lemos Trindade; and Teresa Jardim Gedge.
- Silver Medal, for important services - nine recipients: Emanuel Ferreira Caldeira; João Carlos Ponte; João Manuel Conceição Gomes Sanches; José Eduardo Batista Gaspar; José Gonçalves Silva; José Pedro Pinto Gomes; Maria do Rosário Martins Rodrigues; Restaurante Cachalote; and Xavier Agrela de Barros.
- Bronze Medal, for significant services - six recipients: Ana Maria Pita Rentróia; Cristiano Santos de Andrade; Essential Madeira Islands; João Carlos Gomes Serrão; Manuel Sidónio de Sá Gouveia; and Samuel Vieira Rocha.
The resolution frames the medals as public recognition of professional, business, cultural or institutional contributions to establishing Madeira as a tourist destination. The Tourism Merit Medal was created by Regional Decree No. 15/79/M of 28 August.
