The Regional Government of Madeira has approved a financial grant of 75,000 euros for the European Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Championships in Machico.
The Regional Government Council has authorized the signing of a development and cooperation protocol with the Madeira Regional Triathlon Association, aimed at organizing the European Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Championships. The event, which will take place in Machico between June 22 and 28, 2026, is part of the strategy to promote sports tourism in the Region.
Under Regional Government Council Resolution No. 264/2026, a financial contribution of 75,000.00 euros was granted. The protocol, which remains in effect until December 30, 2026, aims to strengthen Madeira's visibility as a destination of excellence for large-scale sporting events.
The Regional Government will financially support the "2026 Grape Harvest Festival" and the "XIX Super Trial São Vicente Madeira", two events that are part of the region's tourism promotion calendar.
The Madeira Regional Sailing Association will organize two nautical events in September and October, with regional financial support that can reach 76,250 euros.
The official plan for the installation of fireworks launch sites in Madeira and Porto Santo for the New Year's Eve celebrations has been approved.
