The Government Council publicly recognised a canoeing athlete, a badminton coach and a judoka from Madeira for their results in international competitions. In two cases, the commendations also include regional clubs and associations.
The Regional Government has approved three public commendations for representatives from Madeira involved in sport, following results achieved in international competitions while representing national teams.
The three resolutions were approved by the Government Council at its meeting on 1 October 2026.
Danilo José Moniz Ferreira received a public commendation for winning the bronze medal with the national team at the 2026 Wheelchair Handball World Championship. The coach represents Clube Naval Setubalense.
Ivone de Fátima Silva has been honoured by the Regional Government after winning two bronze medals at international paragliding competitions. The commendation also recognises her club, the Jardim da Serra Cultural and Sports Association.
Fourteen associations and informal youth groups will receive funding through the Social Innovation and Transformation Programme. The total maximum grant is €35,673.65, allocated across 2026 and 2027.
