Madeira awards sports funding to ten clubs and associations
The Regional Directorate for Sport has signed ten programme agreements for the 2025/2026 season, providing funding for travel to competitions and projects promoting sport for all. The maximum amounts range from 398 euros to 300,000 euros.
The Regional Directorate for Sport (DRD) has signed ten sports development programme agreements with clubs and associations in Madeira under the Regional Sports Support Plan for the 2025/2026 season. Depending on the agreement, the funding covers travel and daily allowances for sports participants attending regional or national competitions, or projects run by member organisations to promote sport for all.
The amounts are maximum limits: if the expenses submitted and deemed eligible are lower, the contribution is adjusted to the amount actually approved. The agreements require the submission of proof of expenditure and financial and tax documentation, and are subject to monitoring and inspection by the DRD.
- Associação Cultural e Desportiva do Jardim da Serra - Agreement No. 285/2026, relating to sports development programme agreement No. 145/2026. It provides up to 3,336.00 euros for travel to national skyrunning championships. It was signed in Funchal on 18 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- Associação de Karting da Madeira - Agreement No. 286/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 146/2026. It provides up to 16,716.00 euros for travel to national karting championships. It was signed on 22 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- Associação Desportiva de Machico - Agreement No. 287/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 147/2026. It provides up to 17,277.00 euros for travel to national volleyball championships. It was signed on 19 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- Associação da Madeira de Desporto para Todos - Agreement No. 288/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 151/2026. It provides up to 300,000.00 euros to support member organisations' projects promoting sport for all. The agreement was signed on 22 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- CEE - Clube Escola do Estreito - Madeira - Agreement No. 289/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 152/2026. It provides up to 8,479.00 euros for travel to national skyrunning championships. It was signed on 29 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- Club Sport Marítimo da Madeira - Agreement No. 290/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 153/2026. It provides up to 3,231.00 euros for travel to regional futsal competitions. It was signed on 22 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- Club Sports da Madeira - Agreement No. 291/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 154/2026. It provides up to 10,188.00 euros for travel to national target shooting championships. It was signed on 25 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- Clube de Golf do Santo da Serra - Agreement No. 292/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 155/2026. It provides up to 5,817.00 euros, split between 3,645.00 euros for travel to national golf competitions and 2,172.00 euros for regional competitions. It was signed on 26 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- Clube de Tiro, Caça e Pesca da Madeira - Agreement No. 293/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 157/2026. It provides up to 398.00 euros for travel to national hunting firearms championships. It was signed on 26 May 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
- Clube Desportivo da Escola Francisco Franco - Agreement No. 294/2026, relating to programme agreement No. 158/2026. It provides up to 4,369.84 euros for travel to regional futsal competitions. It was signed on 10 July 2026 and remains in force until 31 December 2026.
The agreements justify the funding, among other reasons, by citing the travel costs associated with island life and the importance of sports participation and promoting physical activity. For funding related to national competitions, payments depend on the submission of proof of participation and eligible expenses.
