Madeira awards funding to six sports organizations

The Regional Directorate for Sport (DRD) has signed six sports development programme agreements for the 2025/2026 season, with maximum funding totalling 116,804.70 euros. The agreements cover participation in regional and national competitions, the organization of events, sports training and support for high-potential athletes.

• Sporting Clube Santacruzense - Programme Agreement No. 170/2026, published as Agreement No. 305/2026. It provides up to 17,091.00 euros for travel by sports personnel, including travel costs and daily allowances, to participate in national boccia championships. The agreement was signed in Funchal on 22 May 2026 and runs until 31 December 2026.
• Madeira Outdoor - Association for the Promotion of Outdoor Activities - Programme Agreement No. 171/2026, published as Agreement No. 306/2026. The maximum contribution is 4,408.33 euros for participation in regional chess championships or competitions. It was signed on 22 May 2026 and runs until 31 December 2026.
• Clube Desportivo Garachico, PCUP - Programme Agreement No. 172/2026, published as Agreement No. 307/2026. It receives up to 14,687.66 euros: 13,487.36 euros for regional competition and 1,200.30 euros for sports events. The funding covers basketball, gymnastics for all, rhythmic gymnastics and volleyball, including the organization of a gymnastics-for-all event. It was signed on 25 May 2026 and runs until 31 December 2026.
• Clube Desportivo Bartolomeu Perestrelo - Programme Agreement No. 173/2026, published as Agreement No. 308/2026. The maximum contribution of 19,503.81 euros is divided between 17,734.43 euros for regional handball competition and 1,769.38 euros for organizing a handball event. It was signed on 25 May 2026 and runs until 31 December 2026.
• Associação Desportiva Atlético da Madeira - Programme Agreement No. 174/2026, published as Agreement No. 309/2026. The maximum funding is 1,124.78 euros for participation in regional athletics championships or competitions. It was signed on 8 July 2026 and runs until 31 December 2026.
• A.K.R.A.M. - Madeira Autonomous Region Karate Association - Programme Agreement No. 176/2026, published as Agreement No. 310/2026. It provides up to 50,436.12 euros, allocated to initiatives run with schools/school sports (2,123.47 euros), activity support (39,238.23 euros), a high-potential athlete (5,000.00 euros) and human resources training (4,074.42 euros). It was signed on 11 August 2026 and runs until 31 December 2026.

The agreements stipulate that funding is processed under the Regional Sports Support Plan for 2025/2026, approved by Ordinance No. 625/2025 of 18 November. In all cases, the final contribution may be reduced if the eligible expenses submitted are below the maximum amount provided for. The supported organizations must also submit proof of expenses and financial and administrative documentation, and are subject to inspection by the DRD.
