The Regional Government Council approved two resolutions of public commendation to recognise the work of two former councillors of the Madeiran Diaspora who have ended their terms. The diplomas highlight the dedication, competence, and sense of mission demonstrated in service to Madeiran communities abroad.
Through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 729/2026, José Leonel Rodrigues Teixeira was publicly commended. He held the position of Councillor for the Madeiran Diaspora in the United States of America for ten years. The resolution highlights his "great sense of responsibility and spirit of good service" to the Madeiran community residing in that country.
In turn, Regional Government Council Resolution No. 730/2026 publicly praises João Paulo Mendonça Gouveia, who served as Councillor for the Madeiran Diaspora in the United Kingdom for four years. The document underlines his dedication to serving the Madeiran community residing in the UK.
Both resolutions were approved in a plenary meeting of the Government Council on 15 July 2026.
The transition of the funding for the Luís de Camões Association Social Centre to the standard model has been authorised, with a monthly contribution of 4,296.15 euros.
