Government sets new maximum fuel prices for Madeira

The Regional Government has approved new maximum retail prices for gasoline and diesel, effective from August 17.

The Regional Government of Madeira, through a joint order from the regional secretariats of Economy and Finance, has established the new maximum prices at which fuels can be sold to the public in the archipelago. The measure comes into force at 00:00 on August 17, 2026.

The approved prices are as follows:

  • Unleaded gasoline IO 95: €1.786 per litre
  • Road diesel: €1.897 per litre
  • Coloured and marked diesel: €1.430 per litre

This update is carried out under the terms of Ordinance No. 25/2022, of January 26, and was formalized by Joint Order No. 74/2026, signed by the Regional Secretary for Economy, José Manuel de Sousa Rodrigues, and the Regional Secretary for Finance, Elsa Maria dos Santos Fernandes.

The price of road diesel remains the highest on the list, followed by gasoline. Coloured and marked diesel, used in stationary or agricultural engines and not subject to the same taxes as road fuels, has a significantly lower value.
