Region invests in Palheiro Ferreiro Lagoon rehabilitation and social housing support

The Regional Government of Madeira has approved strategic public investment measures through two separate resolutions:

• Rehabilitation of the Palheiro Ferreiro Lagoon (Resolution no. 476/2026): A program contract was authorized with ARM - Águas e Resíduos da Madeira, S.A., with a financial contribution of up to €3,499,510.00. The goal is to increase the resilience of irrigation systems and strengthen firefighting capacity.
• Social Housing Support (Resolution no. 480/2026): A program contract was authorized with IHM - Investimentos Habitacionais da Madeira, EPERAM, for a total value of €3,500,000.00 (€2.5 million in 2026 and €1 million in 2027). This amount aims to offset the operating deficit resulting from the implementation of social rent policies and housing support between April 2026 and March 2027.
