Regional Government invests in the conservation of the Church of São João Evangelista
The Regional Government of Madeira has authorized an investment of 1.95 million euros for the rehabilitation of the Church of São João Evangelista.
The Regional Government of Madeira, through the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture and the Regional Secretariat for Finance, has formalized, via Ordinance no. 299/2026, the distribution of budgetary charges for the conservation and restoration project of the Church of São João Evangelista.
The intervention, which covers the nave, the chapels, and the sacristy, represents a total investment of €1,950,000.00, plus VAT. The financial breakdown of the project is scheduled as follows:
- 2026: €349,062.56
- 2027: €1,231,578.95
- 2028: €369,358.49
This measure aims at the preservation of the movable and immovable heritage integrated into the aforementioned temple, with the expenditure for the current year being duly allocated in the Budget of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, with budgetary provision planned for subsequent years.
