Regional Government praises sporting achievements of Madeiran athletes
Two resolutions from the Regional Government publicly highlight and commend the achievements of Madeiran athletes in the Portuguese Handball Cup and the World Cup of Artistic Roller Skating.
The Council of the Regional Government approved two resolutions to publicly praise Madeiran athletes and sports entities for their recent national and international successes.
Through Resolution of the Regional Government Council No. 696/2026, athlete Joana Rosa Costa Semedo of Sport Lisboa e Benfica was praised for winning the 2025/2026 Portuguese Cup in the senior women's category in handball.
In turn, Resolution of the Regional Government Council No. 697/2026 publicly praises athlete Madalena Rodrigues Costa, Sporting Clube Santacruzense, and the Madeira Roller Skating Association. The praise is due to winning the World Cup of Artistic Roller Skating, in the free skating variant, in the senior women's category while representing the national team.
Both resolutions highlight that these excellent sporting results have brought prestige to the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
