Madeira Advances with Public Lighting Conversion
The Regional Secretariat for Finance and the Regional Secretariat for Equipment and Infrastructures issued Ordinance No. 101/2026, which authorizes the allocation of 169,892.24 euros for the “Public Lighting Conversion” procedure. This investment will be distributed over the economic years of 2025 and 2026, with the aim of modernizing and optimizing the public lighting network in the region.
The charges are staggered as follows: 45,634.02 euros for the year 2025 and 124,258.22 euros for the year 2026. The expenditure for 2026 already has budgetary allocation under the specific heading of the Regional Secretariat for Equipment and Infrastructures, ensuring the financial viability of the project. Value Added Tax (VAT) at the current legal rate will be added to these amounts.
The measure, which came into force retroactively on December 31, 2025, reflects the Regional Government's commitment to improving infrastructures and energy efficiency, directly benefiting local communities through more modern and potentially more economical lighting.
