Classics in action along the island’s slopes
With an atmosphere of elegant nostalgia and competitive spirit, the 36th Madeira Classic Rally kicked off last weekend, bringing together 38 teams for a route that crosses some of the island’s most picturesque stretches. Organized by the Classic Cars Club of Madeira, this initiative values automobile history and provides moments of camaraderie among collectors and enthusiasts of historic vehicles.
First day: beauty and regularity
On Saturday morning, the teams departed from Funchal towards Porto Moniz, navigating winding roads in a challenge of regularity that favored a constant and controlled pace. In the early afternoon, the caravan gathered in the Santana area, where a timed event took place at the Faial go-kart track, followed by an exhibition of classic models next to the old sugar cane mills at Porto da Cruz.
Closing and camaraderie
On Sunday, the route began in Monte and headed to the eastern sector of the island, culminating in Santana, where the competitors gathered for a camaraderie lunch at the elegant Hotel Quinta do Furão. It was in this space filled with stunning views that the winners were announced, rewarding navigation precision and exemplary vehicle preservation.
